Underground Empire is the German bible of underground heavy, power, progressive, and thrash metal. Issue #5 is packed with well-presented content. Interviews include Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Metal Church, Non-Fiction, and many more. The demo reviews section is massive (16 pages!), and the record reviews section offers plenty to digest and features a granular 20-point system. Moreover, there are many nice sections such as "It's Not Metal... But I Like It" (featuring Kansas), "Once Upon a Zine" (with Metal Forces), German metal and Upcoming Internationals specials, as well as "Cult Complete" (with Y&T) and Demo Classics (featuring the likes of Hellhammer, Overkill, Nocturnus, Nuclear Assault, Majesty).
